D#4, HW#1 - Reading Reflection

I’ve learned several things during the reading assignments for this deadline. First, the WP#2 explained how my annotated bibliographies should be designed and set up. I was not following this to the letter before (ok, not even close) however, I now understand what I need to do when I complete my annotated bibliographies and will apply this knowledge going forward. (I always disliked that phrase, now I seem to say and think it a lot.)

Chapter 8 - I learned to annotate a text. This is hard for me as I was brought up to “not” write in books. Instead I “tag” every page I need to refer back to with colorful tags. Generally, I like to find things on the internet to print out.

Chapter 42 – I wish I’d read this earlier in the week. I now know where to locate library databases and how to use them effectively. I discovered on page 360, listed under Web resources for focused library research (continued) that the web addresses for Internet Public Library (Newspapers & Magazines) are incorrect. They should be www.ipl.org. I’ve already attempted to use several of the Subscription Databases on pg. 362.

Chapter 43 – I’d already reviewed this chapter for my internet research from ENG 101 and have most of these sites bookmarked on my browser.

I didn’t understand why I needed to read about Peer Review under Websites as it had nothing to do with deadline 4. It helped with deadline 5 though.
