D#2, HW#1 - Reading Reflection

I had trouble with Chapter 1 in The Concise Wadsworth Handbook (Razner & Mandell). I understand that I need a purpose for writing and I need to identify my "target" audience. However, I'm still tossing around my topic choice and trying to narrow the focus. I'm unsure at this time "who" I wish to address this subject to. As for the purpose, until I narrow my focus, I'm currently caught between "writing to inform" or "writing to persuade."

A few key features that I will be utilizing extensively are the close ups and checklists outlined in
The Concise Wadsworth Handbook (Razner & Mandell). The Close-up: The Writing Process outlined in stages reinforces how essays should begin, progress and end (Ch 2, pg 16). The Research Process outlined on page 334 is a great tool for keeping focused and staying organized. "Documenting Electronic Sources" (pgs. 455-457) will be critical to my research paper(s), as I rely heavily on the internet for information.

Although I'm struggling with my topic and narrowing my focus, I have great resource tools that I'll be using that will enable me to progress over this hurdle.
